Calling all young architects: Tent London’s Urbantine project is looking for bright ideas, and original thinking to produce a temporary work environment for the 21st century. A collaboration with Workspace Group, the competition is aimed at emerging architects and designers, with a brief is to design a structure that responds to issues of rapid change in the modern workplace. The winner will be given a budget of £10,000 to create their structure which will be showcased in the outdoor spaces at The Truman Brewery as part of Tent London 2007.
Take your inspiration from summer music festivals, market stalls, childhood camping expeditions, shantytown vernacular, or from the rapidly changing nature of office environments – what will wireless working really mean in the coming years? Judging will be based on fulfilling these criteria and presenting a 1:1 solution which is professional in standard and within the £10K budget.
The winning constructions will be on view for all to see at during the London Design Festival at Tent London, in the Truman Brewery complex in east London. One of the main destinations during the London Design Festival, the venue will be on the route of over 35,000 architects and designers seeking fresh talent. At the same time Tent will host more than 300 exhibitors participating in a variety of shows and juried events, including the best innovative design from both emerging talent and established manufacturers.

The University of Brighton Studio 3, has speant this last year working on such a project. Developing ideas from the existing spaces at the Truman Brewery.
